Miss Drill Utah

Miss Drill Utah
Modeling

Solo

The next couple of posts (let's be honest this is going to take more than a couple of posts) are going to summarize my life from the past 2 months. There were things from dance competitions, to spring break, to family parties. All of which deserve to be posted. So stay tuned and bare with me and in a matter of posts I will be up to date on the latest and greatest.

Back in February I had the opportunity of competing in the Miss Drill Utah competition! It was a blast! I competed with such beautiful dancers and girls and got to share the experience with 3 of my teammates (best friends). It was such a fun night! We had preliminaries which included a private interview with 3 judges, modeling (called a star), and a solo performance. Modeling is dancing with no music. It is completely silent so you are judged on how quiet you are, and how well you execute the movement. It is called a star because you walk the stage in the shape of a star stopping at each point (8 steps in between each point) and to a combination of dancing. Oh and did I mention it has to be done in 45 seconds or you are penalized? Yeah, it was a little stressful but all worth it!

It was a memorable night and the overall experience taught me a lot. I love dancing and I love that I have so many friends and family who support me. I had my incredible team there to cheer me and the others on. They are truly my sisters and I love spending so much time with them!

Monday: Let's try this again

I can't believe it's been a month since I last posted! I feel like a failure. But I have failed at a lot of things in life and the best thing to do is to keep trying. So, after a wonderful and inspiring conference weekend I feel ready to tackle this blog again!
I have a million things to talk about! (A lot goes on in a month) But each thing deserves it's own spotlight so we'll take this one post at a time. For right now I just have to say happy Monday! This is one of my many favorite quotes that I want to share with all of you. Don't give up. When things seem too hard or you feel you have failed, get back on your feet and try again!

Go Lone Peak!

We enjoy playing with photo booth :)

Congratulations to our basketball team for making it to the State Championships!! We had so much fun at the game today! Despite what it seems like in these pictures, we did actually watch the game, and cheered pretty loud. I love these girls! We share a lot of laughs. Can't wait for State tomorrow!
GO KNIGHTS!

You say snow day. I say hat day.

Hat: Nordstroms, Shirt/ Jacket: Forever 21, Shoes: Forever Young, Blet: Borrowed (Thanks Hanna) Necklace: Dance Competition vendor
After a stormy night of lots of snow I figured it would be perfect to wear a hat. Confession... my hair gets super curly if not kept under control. So, the hat was necessary. I paired it with a coral sweater and a nice cozy jacket. Topped it off with jeans, a belt to hold 'em up and some comfy boots. What do you wear when the weather is not in your favor?

Skirts, Shoes, and Sharing

I have to admit, I have a weakness for skirts. This plaid one was a christmas gift from my mom. I absolutely love it! It is simple and can be put with just about anything.
The shoes are a new addition to the wardrobe. Mom went to Cali for her birthday and brought home some pretty darling things. (Thank heavens we are the same shoe size.) She is so kind to let me wear her things when sometimes I do without asking... oops. Sharing clothes is one of the things I love about both my mom and my sister. They both have such cute style!
Let me know what you think!

A New Chapter

I did it! I have finally started a blog. This is going to be a place where I can post things that are going on in my life. I love my family, friends, fashion, dancing, and trying new things. (Hence the blog.) These things that I love will be things I post.
Deciding the blog name was a very difficult decision. I am a perfectionist and was thinking about it for weeks. I decided on "lead by my heart" because it can be pronounced two different ways. So, whether it's "lead" like lead in a pencil, or "lead" like a leader, it reflects both my past and my future. I have come this far being lead by my heart and that's how I plan to live. Im excited to open this new chapter of my life. Hope you come along for the ride!
